Hold on to your socks. It's here. The long awaited unique approach to exploring the amazing city of San Francisco and the delicious, tasty treats it holds...has arrived. Welcome to "Where-To-Wednesday" where each month we get our group of girls together to explore and dine at a restaurant we haven’t tried before, in a *hopefully* NEW area we haven’t been to before! So yes everyone...please be open to trying areas and foods out of your comfort zone - you might just be surprised at what you like! And if you're like me, you have your go-to-favorites that you...well...end up going to all the time..(guilty)! This will give us all a chance to venture outside our typical go-to places and find some new favorites.

Here's how it works: each month, one person chooses the place, the date, gather RSVPs the week before and sets up the reservation. Given the number of girls, coordinating schedules isn’t the easiest so if you can make it that month, fantastic....if not, no biggie - we'll see you the next month. No cancellations because it could jeopardize the whole reservation, especially with a large group. And lastly, the person appointed each month is selected at the previous month’s outing, so if you’d like to make a pick for the group…get chowing the month before!

If you know a great girl that would love to find some hidden gems within the city by the bay, invite her to join! We have already explored several new areas and not only found fantastic restaurants and dishes, but a great girls’ night each month to look forward to! Hope to see you all at the next outing - we will slowly eat our way through the amazing city of San Francisco!

Where-To-Wednesday Adventure #2: Firefly

Our second Where-To-Wednesday adventure was chosen by Elizabeth and led us to the adorable restaurant "Firefly" located in the quaint and equally adorable area of Noe Valley on November 17th, 2010. With the holidays approaching, the Christmas lights were already up on buildings in the area and added to the charm that Noe already holds. Firefly was warm and inviting, and definitely worth the drive out there. Elizabeth, Amanda, Lindsey, Chelsea and myself indulged ourselves in delicious entrees, apps and of course, dessert! Using the same 0/10 scale, below are our ratings for the restaurant:

Ambiance: 8 - Beautiful firefly jars light up each table, creating a warm glow across the restaurant. You can even buy them to bring home the same experience!

Wine: 7 - We were in mood for white wine but after several tries and tastes, we never really found one that "hit the spot"

Food: 9 - Delicious! We split several appetizers to get ready for the main event - to name a few - scallops, chesnut soup, brussle sprouts with truffle oil which seemed to melt in your mouth! The black cod and striped bass were delicious! Great combination of flavors. The pork belly was not (sorry Chelsea!) but luckily we had enough food for Chelsea to enjoy instead. There were also several vegetarian and vegan options which I know several of you are smiling in delight at right now. With all of that food, you would think we would have been too full to handle dessert...WRONG. We basically ordered it all. We woudl highly recommend the bread pudding (we wolfed down 2 orders) - absolutely delicious! The Greek yogurt was a hit as well - a little tart, a little sweet..a little party for your mouth. The chocolate cake, however, an almost obvious winner...was not. With all of the other tasty treates, this one fell short for us.

Price: 8 - Overall, the cost was pretty average and they also have Prix Fix options that include appetizer, entree and dessert for $36.

Noise Level: 9 - Easily able to hear each other - even with our larger group of 5.

Service: 6.5 - Nice but pretty slow; nothing above and beyond.

All About The Area: Noe Valley was an instant favorite - very cute - lined with adorable shops, inviting restaurants and families walking around. We will definitely be coming to Noe Valley more often!

Overall Grade: 8

Where-To-Wednesday Adventure #1: Serpentine

Our first Where-To-Wednesday Adventure on September 29th 2010, took myself, Elizabeth and Neely to Serpentine located in the Potrero Hill/Dogpatch area and we had a great experience! We decided to rate the restaurant based on a few items (watch out Zagat), and below are our results!
10= perfection / 1 = death. Drum roll please....

Ambiance: 7 - it's a smaller restaurant and a little dark, but overall a fun and warm atmosphere. During our dining experience, it was EXTREMELY hot in there. I think all three of us ended up putting our hair up to cool down a bit.

Wine: 9 - great selection and we tried a few - both red and white - all were delic. Our fave was "Teira" which I believe was a Sauv Blanc.

Food: 9 - very unique spins on great classics - i.e. corn on the cob...with cocoa and chili salts! The salads were also amazing - we had all three.

Ingredients: 9 - everything was extremely fresh

Service: 10 - our waiter was very nice...giving us MANY tastes of wine as we slowly made our way through the list of wines we couldn't choose one from;) He was very helpful and friendly.

Price Point: 9 - pricing on point, reasonably priced

Noise Level: 9  - we met there around 6:45 and there weren't many people there at that time - rather quiet, however, close to 8 it became pretty packed and the noise level went up but we could still easily hear each other.

All About The Area: Although Serpentine was located in the Dogpatch area of Potrero Hill, it really didn't show us a true view of the area itself. The restaurant is bit separated from the neighborhood and actually looks a bit like a warehouse - not exactly nestled snuggly into the neighborhood. If you do here, we hope you also have a great experience and yummy meal, however, we woudl recommend driving here as you would likely need to jump in your car or hail a taxi to go to destination #2 if the night is young.
